How to request deletion

Formal doesn't yet have an in-app "delete my account" button, so account and data deletion requests are currently handled by email. To request deletion, send an email to support@prismtech.online from the email address registered on your account, with the subject line "Account deletion request", including your registered business/trading name so we can verify it's you.

We'll confirm your identity, process the request, and let you know once it's complete. Expect this to take up to 10 business days.

What gets deleted

Once a deletion request is processed, we delete:

• Your account profile (business name, email, phone number);
• Your identity verification documents (ID/passport and proof of address);
• Your saved bank account details;
• Your notification preferences and device/login history;
• Any stored authentication credentials, including your password and PIN.

What we may need to keep

Financial regulations in South Africa require certain records to be retained for a minimum period regardless of an account deletion request. This means:

• Transaction records (payments received, withdrawals made, amounts, and dates) may be retained for a period of 5 years for financial recordkeeping and audit purposes, even after your account is deleted. This data is retained securely and is not used for any other purpose once your account is closed.
• Information we're legally required to retain to comply with a court order, investigate fraud, or resolve a dispute may also be retained for as long as necessary for that purpose.

Everything not covered by a legal retention requirement is permanently deleted, not just deactivated.

Partial deletion

If you'd like to delete specific information (for example, just your saved bank details) without closing your account entirely, mention that in your email and we'll do what's possible without affecting your ability to use the Service.
